Mexican mill to be world's first with new EAF

Longs producer Talleres y Aceros (Tyasa) is to install an electrical arc furnace with a 1.2mt/y steel making capacity at its plant in Ixtaczoquitlan, Veracruz state, Mexico. The steel will be cast into billets and rough profiles which will be further rolled into wire rod, rebar, bar steel and nails. Current billet capacity is 400,000t/y, and for rolled products 700,000t/y.
