Russian steel maker Mechel says it has suspended production at its Ductil Steel Otelu Rosu plant in Romania after EAF No.2 suffered a malfunction. The company said it is now assessing the situation and working out measures to eliminate the effects of the problem, which occurred in the technological process when slag and steel went through the inner protective coating, damaging the furnace and auxiliary communications.
