From 1985 to 1993, Aravinda was a faculty member of the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh; he joined the faculty of Case Western Reserve University in 1994 and later the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2000. He is currently the director of the Center for Complex Disease Genomics of the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine and a professor of medicine, pediatrics, and molecular biology and genetics at Johns Hopkins.
