Russia's steel trade with Iran shrinks

Russian steel exports to Iran have been collapsing this year, according to latest trade data gathered in Moscow by CRU Steel News. In the first seven months, the volume of all steel products shipped to Iran came to 925,000t, down 60% from the corresponding period of 2011. Semi-finished products, mostly billet, usually see the largest and most sustained demand from Iran's steel mills, and a year ago 1.32mt were shipped across the Caspian Sea. January-July this year the total was 417,000t, a decline of 68%.
