Navasota has nearly 8,000 citizens and an interesting, colorful past with a quite promising future. What was once a small railroad town with dusty streets now boasts a busy, yet orderly, downtown that evokes a grand sense of history. Historic structures undergoing restoration, a bustling economy and a diverse mixture of people are all present. An excellent example of the thriving economy can be witnessed daily at the Beard-Navasota Veterinary Hospital. Multiple trucks—all with livestock trailers—ease their way into the parking lot while simultaneously many dogs are being walked under the shade of the hospitals 150-year-old oak tree. All are awaiting their turn to be cared for by the hospitals veterinarians and technicians.
