Lessons Learned from the Pandemic

One week, students at the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine (TAMU-CVM) were setting off on spring break to rest and recharge.The next, we found ourselves building homemade suture practice models and setting up mock surgery suites onour kitchen tables, preparing for the relocation of veterinary school completely online.The COVID-19 pandemic has been an incredible lesson in resilience, personal growth and the power of perspective for all of us here at the veterinary school. It has been a testament to the power of technology and the bond of our profession, and it has opened my eyes to how deeply tied students are to the veterinary community, even in the face of crisis.
