Degussa gains Spanish approval for forchlorfenuron

German chemical company Degussa has received Spanish approval for the plant growth regulator,Sitofex (forchlorfenuron),for use on table grapes and kiwifruit to enhance fruit size.This represents the first EU approval for the active ingredient.Forchlorfenuron was cleared for listing in Annex I of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414) by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health earlier this year (Agrow No 482,p10).
