Modification of detonation parameters of emulsion explosives by the addition of an oxidizer-fuel system

A mixt. of porous NH4NO3 and flaked or atomized Al dust with zero oxygen balance was added to a corn. emulsion explosive to modify its characteristics. The detonation velocity decreased with the increasing amt. of the additive esp. for flaked Al dust. In general, the max. overpressure of the blast wave was lower for the modified explosives. The modified explosive was recommended for mining purposes.
