Soy rust control to rise $600 m in Brazil in 2013/14

The control of Asian soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) is expected to cost Brazilian soybean growers an extra $600 million in 2013/14 compared with last season, according to the major grower association, the Aprosoja. It further anticipates total higher costs of some $2,500 million including further lost harvest from the disease. The association warns that available fungicide products "no longer possess the same efficacy [as previously]".
