New policies to turn China into 'pesticide power'

China has the potential to become a worldwide "pesticide power" if new policies are implemented, reports the Chinese investment advisory website, OCN. Among new policies governing the industry are rules to limit the number of Chinese agrochemical companies, and increase the market share of the largest producers. By 2015, the number of pesticide companies should have been reduced by 30%, while the top 20 Chinese pesticide manufacturers should account for at least 50% of annual pesticide sales, reaching 70% by 2020. The policies were jointly published last month by four Chinese government bodies, including three Ministries (Agrow No 601, p 32).
