The article presents major indicators of Ukraine's economic development in 2002 and forecast figures for 2003-2004' economic development. The material emphasizes that 2002' rate of real GDP growth constituted 4.1 percent and was mainly fostered by expansion of internal demand and increasing competitiveness of national manufacturing. Economic growth indicators in various economic sectors of the country are presented. In these terms, oil refining and woodworking were the leaders of 2002 with respective growth rates of 25.5 percent and 23.4 percent. 2002' volume of foreign trade in goods and services added 10.3 percent as compared to the year before. The volume of commodity exports augmented by 11.1 percent, imports were 9.4 percent up. The article also contains short overview of financial market situation and illustrates the trend of expanding investment in the economy, especially, by banking sector and population. The tendency suggests positive moves in Investment climate of Ukraine and improved Investment image of the country. The article gives forecast for changes in several key economic figures in the country for the next couple of years, such as: growth of economically active population from 20.8 to 21.5 mn people, inflation rate at 6-8 percent-, devaluation of Hryvnia within 3-6 percent, as well as tempos of gross fixed asset accumulation growth outrunning GDP increase rates 1.5 times.
