Export of oil from Russia

The article examines export of oil from Russia over January -August 2003. according to preliminary information, the total volume of its export constitutes approximately 160 mn tons. Deliveries under tolling schemes constituted roughly 1.5 mn tons. Direct export of oil from Russia in the period under review made about 158 mn tons exceeding the index of January - August of 2002 by 10-11 percent. Average export prices herewith over the first eight months of 2003 made about USD/MT 169 against the average price of USD/MT 148 in the corresponding period of the last year. Oil was exported from Russia to 45 countries of the world in January - August 2003. Germany, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and Italy topped the list of Russian oil importers with more than 35 percent of the total export falling for these countries. Average export prices during deliveries of oil to these countries made USD/MT 181 for Germany, USD/MT 174 for the Netherlands, USD/MT 127 for Ukraine, and correspondingly approximately USD/MT 176 for Italy.
