China's top 100 pesticide manufacturers achieved combined sales of Yuan 49,697 million ($7,757.7 million at the current rate) in 2010, an increase of 12.1% on the previous year, Chinese media report. The data come from the Chinese Crop Protection Industry Association's ranking of the leading companies in terms of sales during 2010, which it believes reveals greater industry consolidation. A breakdown of the ranking will be released during the 11th national pesticide conference in Shanghai later this month. Chinese agrochemical company Nanjing Redsun topped the 2009 ranking released by the Chinese Chemical Society's special committee of pesticides (Agrow No 604, p 3).
