Colombia has approved 18 applications covering genetically modified crops so far in 2010. The Ministry of Agriculture's plant and animal health technology corporation, the ICA, authorised 12 GMOs for agricultural purposes, including seven for use in feed and two for field trials. The other approvals were for commercial release of two GM cotton lines and one GM soybean line, the first in Colombia (see this issue, p 25). A further six authorisations were granted in June for import and use in food.
