Development of a Macmillan pilot psycho-oncology service for women with gynaecological cancers

In late 2016, Macmillan Cancer Care agreed 2 years of funding for a pilot psycho-oncology service focusing on the psychological needs of patients with gynaecological cancers at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and Peterborough City Hospital. The pilot service is based on an innovative model integrating Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) through the Cambridgeshire Psychological Well-being Service and Liaison Psychiatry with cancer services. The service model is based on the NICE four-level model of supportive care in cancer and provides input at all levels whilst dovetailing with other locally available psychological support for people with gynaecological cancers.
