The government of the Canadian province of Manitoba is to introduce legislation to ban the cosmetic use of pesticides on lawns. Planned legislation would allow only the use of federally approved biopesticides on lawns and adjacent areas as well as on school playing fields. It would become effective in December 2014 with a one-year grace period for homeowners to allow them to become familiar with alternative products.
