Monsanto/DuPont agree GMO licensing deal and drop lawsuits

Monsanto and DuPont have entered into a multi-million dollar licensing deal over genetically modified crops and agreed to drop legal action over the technology. DuPont will pay Monsanto at least $1,752 million in royalties over the next ten years as part of the deal. Monsanto has granted DuPont a non-exclusive, royalty-bearing licence in the US and Canada to its genetically modified glyphosate tolerance M0N89788 and dicamba tolerance M0N87708 traits. That will allow DuPont seed subsidiary DuPont Pioneer to offer glyphosate-tolerant Roundup Ready 2 Yield (MON89788) soybeans in 2014 and glyphosate- and dicamba-tolerant Roundup Ready 2 Xtend (MON87708xMON89788) soybeans in 2015, subject to approvals.
