EFSA clears food containing Bayer's GM rapeseed

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has given safety clearance for the presence of Bayer CropScience's genetically modified glufosinate-ammonium herbicide-tolerant oilseed rape lines, MS8 and RF3, in food. The company submitted its application in 2010, to complement existing authorised uses of the lines in the EU. The EFSA says that the new information submitted does not alter its previous conclusions that the crop is unlikely to have an adverse effect on human or animal health, or the environment.
