Brazilian minor-crop law to bear fruit by April

The Brazilian authorities expect to make the first use extensions of pesticide active ingredients that are approved for use on major crops to minor crops by April, national business newspaper Valor Economico reports. It quotes the Ministry of Agriculture's co-ordinator general of pesticides, Luis Eduardo Rangel. "We received the first use extension applications in November [Agrow Ho 630, p 15]," he told the newspaper. The applications came from companies including BASF, FMC and Syngenta. There had been almost 20 "filed use extensions" by the time of the mid-January Valor report, with the expectation of 45 applications having been made by February.
