摘要

A Mexican judge has ordered the Ministries of Agriculture and of the Environment not to grant further authorisations for trials, pilot planting and commercialisation of genetically modified maize, national media report. Federal judge Jaime Eduardo Verdugo also ordered the immediate suspension of all activities connected with the planting of GM maize in all Mexican states, accepting arguments that the technology "represented an immediate threat to the environment". The order follows a class action brought by 53 individuals including scientists and artists, and 22 environmentalist groups in July.
