US to OK Valent's new Bt biopesticides

The US EPA has proposed the approval of two bioinsecticides from Sumitomo Chemical subsidiary Valent BioSciences based on Bt subsp kurstaki strain VBTS-2546, which is a new active ingredient. The Bt strain has the same genes (crylAa, crylAb, crylAc, cry2Aa, cry2Ab, crylla and vip3Aa) as strain HD-1, which is synonymous with strain ABTS-351 in Valent's Dipel products, the EPA notes.
