摘要

The European Commission is considering setting thresholds for the low-level presence of non-EU-approved genetically modified crops in food imports. It will "probably" use the same mechanism as introduced for feed imports last year, says EU Health and Consumers Commission John Dalli. The feed rules set a threshold of 0.1% for the accidental presence of GM material, provided it is already under evaluation for EU approval (Agrow No 619, p 11). They were a response to complaints that the EU's "zero tolerance" policy was disrupting feed supplies.
