The six row manual paddy transplanter was evaluated in inceptisols and compared with the paddy sown manually. The higher grain yield, number of hills per metre square and number of seedlings per hill were observed in case of paddy transplanter as compared to paddy transplanted by hired labour. There was a labour saving of 49.72% and financial saving of 16.9% due to the use of manual paddy transplanter as compared to the paddy sown manually. However under control treatment (33 plants/m~2) economic returns were highest as compared to paddy transplanting by hired labour and transplanter.
