Antibacterial Activity of Clerodendron inerme Against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Bacillus subtilis

摘要

The present study deals with the antibacterial activity of the aqueous, chloroform and ethanol extracts of the leaves of Clerodendron inerme using agar diffusion method against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Bacillus subtilis. The ethanol extract of plants Clerodendron inermetested against the growth of E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Bacillus subtilis showed high antibacterial effect where as it showed moderate activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial activity of ethanol extracts was found to be higher than that of distilled water extracts.
