Recommendations for Participation in Competitive Sports of Athletes with Arterial Hypertension

Current guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology and other renowned international professional associations give regular physical activity for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease the highest evidence class IA. This also applies to athletes with arterial hypertension, although there are some special features to be considered. With the aim of providing evidence-based support to colleagues who care for athletes with arterial hypertension, these recommendations were prepared under my leadership in collaboration with colleagues from the Sports Cardiology Section of the European Association of Preventive Cardiology of the European Society of Cardiology and can be downloaded open access from the European Heart Journal.
