Management of insect pests in wheat and rapeseed-mustard

Earlier wheat was considered as insect pest free crop but after modifications in production and protection technologies, a number of insect pests have started attacking this crop. The incidence of pests like aphids and termites is progressively increasing and some new pests like pink stem borer and root aphid are emerging as a threat to wheat crop. The grain yield losses due to insect pests in wheat have steadily increased. The common insect pests attacking wheat crop are aphids, termites, pink stemborer, armyworm, gram pod borer and brown mite.
