THE Pageboy SFD15 self-priming diaphragm pump has been designed for pumping aggressive or corrosive liquids, such as solvents or strong acids. Available from liquids'-handling specialist Pump Engineering, of Littlehampton, UK, this 'pocket-sized', air-operated pump has low air consumption and is safe to use in hazardous areas. An important feature of the SFD pump is a stress-free diaphragm which plays an important part in establishing reliability and long-life, even when pumping liquids such as MEK, acetone, or chloroform. The pump is designed to stop automatically against a closed valve, maintaining a delivery-line pressure equal to the air-supply pressure, and starts automatically when the delivery-line pressure falls, such as when a valve is opened.
