REPAIR work costing just over 400 pounds would have prevented the deaths of nine workers and injuries to dozens more in the Stockline factory blast, a court heard in August. A bill of 405 pounds was put on the cost of digging up, inspecting and replacing a corroded and leaking liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pipeline that caused the tragedy in Glasgow on 11 May, 2004. At the High Court in Glasgow, details of the explosion unfolded during a hearing into the actions of the two companies that owned and operated the factory. ICL Tech Ltd and ICL Plastics Ltd have admitted serious breaches of health and safety legislation and face a heavy fine.
