Argentine state closer to glyphosate spray ban

A law to limit the spraying of pesticides in an Argentine province has moved a step nearer, national newspaper La Nacion reports. The lower house of the regional Parliament for the province of Santa Fe has backed a bill setting limits on spraying pesticides,. and banning the application of the fumigant, aluminium phosphide, in vehicles transporting agricultural seed, grain or sub-products. Approval of the bill would ban aerial application of the herbicide, glyphosate, while limiting the application of other pesticides to beyond 1 km from urban areas, and ground applications beyond 500 m, or neat water courses.
