According to a Wall Street Journalarticle, globally, auto makers exported arecord $7.4 billion worth of vehicles to Chinalast month, as European and Japanesecompanies took advantage of a tariff cutthat excludes U.S. producers. The July 1tariff reduction from 25% to 15% resulted ina new record of 165k cars exported toChina up from the prior record in 2014 of134k cars. U.S. vehicles have a 25%punitive tariff for a total of 40%. U.S. salesof light vehicles decreased in June as youcan see in the chart below.
