Economic Feasibility of Rice-Toria Cropping System in Three Agro Climatic Zones of Assam

A demonstration trial was conducted during 2001- 02 and 2002 - 03 in five districts viz Morigaon, Kamrup, Nalbari, Barperta and Darrang under athe three Agro - Climatic zones of Assam with the most important ricetoria cropping system. Highest grain yield of rice and toria was observed in Morigaon and Nalbari districts respectively under Farmers practice. Similarly under the improved practices the highest yield of rice and toria was observed in Nalbari district only. The market price of rice and toria was found highest in Nalbari districts out of the five districts. The average net return of Rs. 20,832/- and Rs. 28261/- only was observed in the rice toria cropping system as a whole under the Farmers and improved practices respectively., The yield and net return was found highest under the inproved practices due to proper adoption of recommended package of practice by the respective farmers of the districts.
