Sumitomo Chemical's US subsidiary,Valent USA Corporation(Walnut Creek,California),has received US approval for the fungicide,Presidio(Bayer CropScience's fluopicolide),for use on leafy and fruiting vegetables,cucurbits and grapevines.The EPA issued an import tolerance for fluopicolide in grapes last year(Agrow No 517,p 23),but these are the first domestic approvals for the fungicide.Valent will market fluopicolide in North America under a 2005 agreement with Bayer(Agrow No 486,p 1).The company aims to introduce Presidio in all major vegetable and grapevine growing states,except New York,this year.
