Effect of foliar applications of water soluble fertilizer 'Multi-K' on yield and quality of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) cv. Rose Scented.

Fourteen-year-old litchi cv. Rose Scented plants were sprayed once, twice or thrice with 1% aqueous solution of the fertilizer Multi-K after 15 (T1), 30 (T2) and 45 (T3) days of fruit setting; at 15 and 30, 15 and 45, and 30 and 45-day intervals after fruit setting (T4, T5 and T6, respectively) and at 15-day intervals after 15 days of fruit setting (T7) in a field experiment conducted in Pantnagar, Uttaranchal, India. T7 resulted in the lowest occurrence of fruit cracking (7.221%) and waste index (0.53) and highest fruit weight (18.3 g), increase in fruit weight over the control (14.3%) ascorbic acid content (34.9 mg/100 g pulp), fruit yield (28 kg/tree), increase in yield over the control (21.2%), profit (Rs. 54800/ha) and benefit:cost ratio (1.58). T6 resulted in the highest total soluble solids (18.1%) and total soluble solid:acid ratio (28.7). Titratable acidity was highest in the control (0.72%).
