Effect of Pre-Sowing Soaking Seed Treatment with GA_3, NAA and Thioure'a on Seed Germination Seedling Growth, and Biomass in Ocimum sanctum L

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of pre-sowing soaking of Basil seeds with GA.,, NAA and thiourea at various concentrations for 6 and 12 hours duration on seed germination, seedling growth and vigour in pot culture. Among the various treatments, seeds treated with thiourea 2000 ppm for 12 hrs improved the germination percentage, time taken to achieve 50 per cent seed germination, number of leaves per seedling, shoot and root length, fresh and dry weight of shoots and roots and vigour index.
