Rwanda plans significant increase in chicken, egg output

Rwanda's poultry flock grew at an average annual rate of 9% from 2011 to 2018 to reach 7.6 million head. Rwanda, like much of Sub-Saharan Africa, is seeing the poultry industry grow at a faster rate than any other agricultural subsector, driven by rising populations, incomes and urbanization. For the Rwandan government, the sector is seen as "low hanging fruit," or better understood as an industry that with help andencouragement can quickly grow to help increase the local protein supply.
