Putting weight behind lightweight concepts and solutions

Among the highlights at the fourth annual International Composites Conference congress was a presentation on lightweight solutions for low emissions and electro-mobility from Borealis business development director Mark-us Kralicek,who,among others,discussed his company's recent development work on carbon-fibre reinforced PP body panel concepts,conducted in collaboration with automotive parts producer Magna.Kralicek said that tailgate development with Magna has now progressed from a 3-component design featuring a Fibremod LGF 40 carrier structure with respectively Daplen T12-T35 and Daplen EF098HP(scratch resistant/hiding)outer and inner panels to a 2-part lightweight tailgate with a Fibremod GB416LF(40% LGF)mould-in-colour(MIC)carrier structure and a Daplen T12-T35 panel.
