Pagev asks for plastics industry incentives due to Covid-19 impacts /Downturn in processing sector

Turkish plastics industry association Pagev (Istanbul) was still holding talks at the end of April 2020 with the Turkish government to include the plastics and chemicals industries in its bailout programme, which aims to help businesses badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. So far, the rescue package has amounted to TRY 200 bn (EUR 26 bn). While the country's domestic plastics industry has seen a significant increase in demand for packaging, medical and hygiene products and disposable items, the rise has not been enough to counter the major downturn in other industries, such as construction, automotive, household appliances and electronics.
