Construction starts on petrochemicals complex in Amur

Petrochemicals group Sibur (Moscow/Russia) has begun construction work on a new cracker and polymers complex in the Amur region in eastern Russia. Expected capacity includes 2.3m t/y of polyethylene and 400,000 t/y of polypropylene. Construction and commissioning are scheduled for 2024-2025. Sibur said Amur GCC will have the world's largest cracking unit and become the world's biggest basic polymer producer.
