Australian submarine experts explore sunken WWI submarine in Turkey

A visit to Turkey by a team of Australian experts has gathered information on an Australian submarine sunk off the coast of Marmara Island, Turkey, during World War One. The HMAS AE2 submarine has been buried underwater since it was scuttled by Turkish forces on 30th April 1915, during wartime operations off the Gallipoli Peninsula. The visit was a joint operation between the Turkish Institute of Nautical Archaeology (TINA) and the AE2 Commemorative Foundation (AE2CF), which was supported by the Australian Government and industry.
