The maximum callus induction and growth in leaf explant was observed on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 1.00 mg/1 2,4-D for callus initiation and fresh weight of callus. These callii were successfully regenerated on 1.0 and 1.5 mg/1BAP while direct rooting of callus was observed in 1.0 mg/1 NAA. The significant results were found with 2.0 mg/1 Kinetin and 0.5 mg/1 BAP for initiation of shoots and 0.5 mg/1 BAP for number of plantlets per explant. Maximum height of plantlets was found with 0.5 mg/1 Kinetin while 1.5, 2.0 and 0.5 mg/1 BAP + 0.5 mg/1 Kinetin were found to induce more number of leaves per explant. These plants were successfully rooted with different auxins but IAA was found to promote root elongation. These rooted plantlets were successfully hardened and acclimatized after 21 days with 70-80 per cent success with carrier vermiculite.
