Power burn demand to fall in August

S&P Global Platts estimates August power burn will average 33.1 Bcf/d — a 3.7 Bcf/d drop from a year ago — primarily because of higher gas prices bringing back some coal generation. Looking further out through the end of the summer season, forecasts for September and October have both been revised upward by 0.2 Bcf/d, but monthly power burn demand is still expected to average behind 2016 levels for both months.
