Efficacy of agro-chemicals for management of whitemould of French bean

White mould caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary is one of the major diseases causing significant losses in production. For its management, agro-chemicals namely; carbendazim 50 WP, azoxystrobin 23 SC, thiophanate methyl 70 WP, carboxin (36.5%) + thiram (36.5%), mancozeb 75 WP, ziram 27 SC, and bio-agents Trichoderma harzianum and T. viride were screened in vitro through poisoned food and dual culture technique. Carbendazim 50 WP and thiophanate methyl 70 WP were found significantly effective in inhibiting the mycelial growth of the pathogen. All the test agro-chemicals were also evaluated through seed treatment, foliar spray and seed treatment + foliar spray for the management of disease under in-vivo. Carbendazim 50 WP and thiophanatemethyl 70 WP proved to be effective for controlling white mould of French bean under field conditions. Seed treatment + foliar spray of agro-chemicals was found to be the most effective way of application of agro-chemicals for controlling the disease. Seed treatment with carbendazim 50 WP at 25 and 40 days after sowing was significantly effective as compared to other agro-chemicals in reducing disease intensity.
