Lignin: commercialising a bio-based alternative for coatings and adhesives

After cellulose, lignin is the second most commonly-found organic polymer in the world. Used by the pulp industry for energy purposes, lignin burned to produce heat, steam and electricity, which generates more energy than the pulp mill uses. A traceable, natural material which can be extracted from plant-based material, lignin can be used in applications where rigid structures are preferred.
