U.S. Concrete enters aggregates industry with purchase of New Jersey quarry

U.S. Concrete Inc. acquired the assets of Lafarge Aggregates Southeast's Hamburg Quarry, located in Hamburg, N.J. The Hamburg Quarry provides construction aggregates to commercial, residential and public works projects primarily in Northern New Jersey and Orange County, N.Y.Annual production at the facility is approximately one million tons of aggregates, and the quarry is estimated to have approximately 46 million tons of remaining mineral reserves. No terms were disclosed. "We are extremely pleased to announce this transaction, which represents our entry into the aggregates industry," says Eugene P. Martineau, CEO of U.S. Concrete. "We believe the Hamburg Quarry is an excellent strategic complement to our existing ready-mixed concrete operations in Northern New Jersey and we will continue to explore additional opportunities to integrate aggregates businesses into our existing concrete operations."
