For the extraction and determination of the DNA the bulb of Onion (Allium cepa) and Garlic (Allium sativum) were observed with the help of Agarose Gel Electrophoresis method. The extraction of the DNA is done by a simple lab method using 5% SDS, 5M NaCl and ethanol, the determination done by Agarose- Gel electrophoresis method. This was observed during the study that different species of plant have different molecular weight of the DNA. On the contrary Porebski et ai, (1997) extract the DNA from plants using modified CTAB method, Dilworth and Frey .(2000) also extract the DNA from plant materials. Tiwari et al, (2009) also isolate the DNA from different dicot plants.
