Effect of Organic & Inorganic Fertilizers on Yield of Soybean, Wheat and Turmeric and Available Nutrient Status of Soil

A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, K. Digraj, Sangli (M.S.) to study the effect of organic & inorganic fertilizer on yield of groundnut, wheat and turmeric and available nutrient status of soil. The groundnut, wheat and turmeric crops were taken as sequence cropping based on soil test crop response approach during 2003-04 to 2006-07 four succeeding years in medium deep black soils. The experimental soils having pH-8.00, EC- 0.41 dS m(-1), low available nitrogen, phosphorus and high available potassium. The treatments comprised T-1-control, T-2-STCR inorganic, T-3-STCR organic, T-4-75 % organic+25% inorganic, T-5-50% organic+50% inorganic, T-6-25% organic +75% inorganic and T-7-RDF+FYM for groundnut -wheat and turmeric cropping system in randomized block design with three replications. The result revealed that the significantly highest grain yield of soybean was recorded in the treatment T-2 i.e. application of 100% NPK as STCR only chemical fertilizer. In case of wheat followed by soybean the significantly highest grain yield was recorded in treatment T (application of 75% inorganic chemical fertilizer + 25% N through organic fertilizers). The highest turmeric dry yield followed by soybean and wheat crops was obtained in the treatment RDF + FYM 25 t/ha. The mean available N (Average of two years) 183,170 and 206 Kg/ha(-1), mean available P (Average of two years) 12.38, 11.03 and 12.13 Kg/ha(-1), mean available K (Average of two years) 292, 288 and 294 Kg/ha(-1) after harvest of soybean, wheat and turmeric, respectively. This indicates that after harvest of wheat, the available nutrient status i.e. N, P and K were decreased. However after harvest of soybean and turmeric slightly increased the nutrient status N,P and K i.e., maintains the soil fertility.
