Biological Control of Onion Basal Rot Caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp cepae

Trichoderma viride, T harzianum and Bacillus subtilis inhibited the growth of E oxysporum f. sp. cepae the causal agent of onion basal rot under in vitro condition. Among the various treatments, the combined treatment effect of T viride + B. subtilis and T harzianum + B. subtilis gave better inhibition of growth of E oxysporum f. sp. cepae. Similar effect was observed in reduction of conidial production and chlamydospore production. Under pot culture studies, seed treatment with T viride and combination of T viride + B. subtilis gave maximum reduction of disease incidence.
