Cold neutron moderators

摘要

This article is a brief review of investigations conducted at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics and devoted to the problem of cold neutron moderators for the reactor IBR-2 as well as other high-intensity sources of neutrons, The main result of these investigations is the obtaining of new and comprehensive information on radiation effects in almost all prospective materials for cold moderators, including the most promising, the aromatic hydrocarbon mesitylene, and mixtures of it with other aromatic hydrocarbons.
