摘要

The ever-changing world of technology has evolved the concept of medical imaging. Musculo-skeletal imaging has highly taken advantage of the advancements. Imaging modalities, which were once used for obtaining anatomic information, now can be used for obtaining functional, metabolic, and even biochemical data. Moreover, the introduction of new hybrid imaging systems has enabled the simultaneous anatomic/metabolic imaging. The practical role of several novel imaging methods remains unclear in the musculoskeletal system. The authors aim to present the current applications of 4 novel imaging methods, including magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MRF), ultra-short echo time (UTE) sequence, hybrid PET/MR, and dual-energy CT scan (DECT) in musculoskeletal radiology.
