Fusion of doubly heavy mesons into a tetraquark

The fusion of quarks comprising two heavy mesons into a tetraquark is analogous to the fusion of a neuron and proton into a deuteron, but releases significantly more energy. These recently postulated quark-level fusion reactions are investigated using a first-order mass formula. Heavymesons containing b and t quarks provide the largest energy release during quark-level fusion.
